BUILDING CAPABILITIES FOR FINANCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN SOMALIA

Central Bank of Somalia
Somalia's Central Bank is responsible for implementing monetary policy, managing the country's currency, and controlling the money supply.

Achievement

I was recruited to work for the Governor's office where I successfully mobilized different departments of the organization. As part of my responsibilities, I was involved in licensing two international banks from Turkey, namely Ziraat and Miraat Bank, which are currently operating in Somalia. Working alongside the head of the economist, I was able to create interest rates for microfinancing for 13 local banks.

Besides, I offered advice and support to the Legal and Communication departments to increase the banks' presence and awareness in the country
